Mattiel - Customer Copy

Mattiel’s second release proves that less is more. Clocking in at 18 minutes, not a second is wasted. The project has a noir, smoky-though-lively-club feel to it. Chances are your parents would also appreciate this music, as it sounds like it could have been released in the 60’s. Her music continues to be a lush mesh of retro and contemporary sounds. The instrumentation is distinctly unique in its familiarity. The voice is the most important instrument here. The songs speak to the singer coming to accept her status as a social outlier and defier of conventions. This is recommended for fans of the Black Keys, Shannon & the Clams, and Shovels & Rope.
